Young and Old

Put yourself in the picture....

For those who live in the country the pre-teen & teen years are often spent saying there is nothing to do...
But what would you young whippersnappers like to see?!! A regular get-together with all your mates, a skate park, an internet cafe, a BMX trail, more buses to get you into town or college...?

Without knowing what is wanted or needed it's really difficult to plan anything.

So, if you'd like to have something
 - rather than nothing
we really need your help!

We're looking for a small, mixed group of boys and girls, ranging in age from 10-16, who are happy to meet up a few times and throw some ideas around, ask friends what they would like, what they think, etc. You would officially be called a Consultation Group - which sounds a bit scarier but is essentially the same thing! What you should end up with is a 'Wish List' of things that your brainstorming and asking around has shown that people of your age group would like to see in and around the Parish.

You'll have to show that your group has "consulted" or asked around (this could be face-to-face, or on Facebook, Twitter etc).To help kick things off there are questionnaires from the 1st open meeting back in April 2012 which would give you an idea of what other people have already said they'd like to see.

If this sounds like something you'd like to get stuck into, please post a comment or get in touch. We really want to hear from you.

Activities for the retired
Housing for the elderly

The Parish hosts some very successful initiatives, such as The Lunch, Coffee at the George, as well as clubs suitable for the retired.  Anything missing? Are you willing to initiate any new activities?
Have a look at the list of clubs, societies and activities already available here.
Post any new ideas you have below.

Housing for the elderly is an issue.
Could a 'village house exchange' help you to downsize?
Is there suitable extra care available in the home when needed?
Could you be interested in sheltered housing?

Complete the housing questionnaire that will be posted through your letter box in September 2013 - it can be completed on paper or on-line, help will be there if you want and it will be anonymous to those that analyse the results.

Any comments on what you have just read? Any thoughts or suggestions? Anything worrying you about the facilities for young and older people? Post a comment now in the box below ...
